Tunji-Ojo Advocates for Enhanced Tech Collaboration in Governance
The honourable minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on Thursday welcomed Mr Mohammed Aliyu, President of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), in a courtesy visit aimed at fostering collaboration on capacity development initiatives.
The meeting, which took place at the interior ministry, focused on the vital role of technology in transforming public service delivery and the pressing need for continuous upskilling within government institutions.
Speaking during the engagement, the Tunji-Ojo emphasised the ministry’s commitment to embracing innovation, stating that, “As the world continues to evolve technologically, the need to keep abreast of this dynamism becomes imperative to all strata of government.”
He further highlighted the importance of forging strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders such as the NCS. “In the ministry of interior, we believe that technology is a catalyst to drive the processes, projects and programmes. It is not merely a tool but a critical enabler of efficiency and transformation in governance,” he said.
Mr Aliyu, on his part, expressed the readiness of the NCS to support the Ministry in developing IT competencies across its departments and agencies. He noted that collaborative efforts between the public sector and professional bodies are essential in building a digitally competent workforce capable of meeting contemporary challenges.
The courtesy call marks a significant step towards a structured alliance between the ministry and the nation’s leading IT body, paving the way for more resilient and innovative public sector operations.
