TUC demands N200,000 for minimum wage

In order to lessen the impact of the loss of subsidies, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has requested President Bola Tinubu to increase the nation’s minimum wage.

The increase in the minimum wage, taking into account the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), was required to be made by the end of June in order to execute the Petroleum Industry Act.

According to Osifo, they also demanded that the “status quo ante of PMS pump price be maintained” while the discussion is taking place, that a state governors’ representative be a party to the communiqué, and that all governors make a commitment to enacting the new minimum wage.

The union also demanded an “immediate review of the National Health Insurance Scheme to cover more Nigerians and prevent out-of-stock drugs”.
