Relocating FAAN, CBN depts to Lagos makes economic sense – Uzodimma

Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma has said that it makes financial sense to relocate the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and certain Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) departments to Lagos to improve operational efficiency.

Uzodimma stated this in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

He said: “I listened to Ali Ndume, I listened to the Northern Senators’ Forum, I listened to the Emir of Kano. You can see the preponderance of opinions.

“And then the majority opinion is that merit should be the driving criterion for decision-making in the country. The main aviation hub is in Lagos and if the operation’s department is sent to Lagos to be able to manage aviation operations effectively, I have not seen any ill in it.”

Uzodimma added that the CBN oversees all of the nation’s commercial banks, making it the bankers’ bank. He argued that the standard should be merit and that the motto should be efficiency.

The governor stressed: “Therefore if you move the operations department of FAAN to Lagos to supervise airlines, it makes economic sense.”

President Bola Tinubu’s opponents, according to Uzodinma, who is the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are funding a “campaign of calumny” against him because of his administration’s policies.

Uzodimma also noted that Tinubu has no plan to relocate the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from Lagos to Abuja.
