Phyna’s sister Ruth Otabor dies after Dangote truck accident
Ruth Otabor, the sister of BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna, has passed away following an accident involving a Dangote truck.
The reality star, born Josephina Otabor, on August 13, revealed that the incident occurred near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state.
Phyna said the accident left Ruth with one leg amputated and the other at risk, alongside head and hand injuries.
Reacting in a statement, Dangote Group disclosed that senior officials and their insurance team immediately visited the accident scene.
The conglomerate said they coordinated with law enforcement authorities and met with the victim’s family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The statement emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting Otabor’s recovery, pledging “comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy.”
But on Sunday, the reality star announced Ruth’s demise through a legal document that was posted on her Instagram account.
“We remain Solicitors to Ruth Otabor, Josephine Otabor (whose moniker is: Phyna) and the Otabor Family and have their instruction to inform the public of this,” the document reads.
