Malami moves to stop EFCC’s ₦213bn property forfeiture

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside an interim forfeiture order on 57 properties seized by the EFCC and valued at ₦213.23 billion.

Justice Emeka Nwite had ordered the interim forfeiture pending investigations into alleged illicit funds linked to Malami and two of his sons. The court has yet to fix a hearing date.

The assets include luxury hotels, duplexes, commercial shops, warehouses and vast landholdings across Abuja, Kano, Kaduna and Kebbi.

Malami, his wife and son are already facing trial over alleged ₦8.7 billion money laundering, with proceedings set to begin on February 17.
