
IBB University Shut Down Over Security Concerns in Niger State
The Niger State Government has ordered the closure of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) University, Lapai, following a series of armed robbery attacks targeting students.
In a statement released Wednesday night, the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, cited recent security breaches and the tragic loss of lives as the reason for the shutdown.

The government expressed deep concern over the incidents and urged members of the university community to stay calm, remain vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies during the period of closure.
“The safety and security of all citizens, including the students, remain a top priority for the government. The state government is working diligently to restore order, ensure the safety of all citizens, and maintain peace within the state.
“The government promised to investigate into the security breeches and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice while reiterating its commitment to upholding law and order, as well as protecting the lives and property of all residents in Niger State,” he said.
