EFCC alleges structured deposits in Yahaya Bello trial
The Yahaya Bello money laundering trial continued in Abuja as an Access Bank compliance officer told the court that funds from Kogi State local governments were deposited into private accounts in structured amounts to evade NFIU reporting.
The EFCC alleges that deposits were deliberately kept below ₦10 million and quickly withdrawn or transferred after inflows from local councils.
The former Kogi State governor is facing 19 counts of money laundering totalling over ₦80 billion.
Justice Emeka Nwite adjourned the case to February 2026 for cross-examination.
